My Manifesto

Recently I took a class called Your Authentic and Innate Goodness with Dr. Edward Viljoen, based on the book Ordinary Goodness: The Surprisingly Effortless Path to Creating a Life of Meaning and Beauty, where we looked at our values with these questions:

  • What, in life, is important to me?
  • What would goodness have me do?
  • What do I believe about the way life works?
  • What inspires awe in me?

As a result of contemplating these questions, I came up with my own manifesto.

My Declaration of purpose:

To give and receive love in equal parts.

To take time each day in silence to connect with my soul and listen to its longings and desires.

To nurture loving connections with friends, family, students and teachers.

To spend time each day appreciating nature and all creatures on this earth, loving Mother Earth in all its glory.

To release the past and find joy and freedom in the present moment.

To balance chores and fun by being creative, singing, cooking and dancing.

To hold sacred the balance of life between the joy and sadness and all other emotions that come along with being human.
