Through meditation, you can learn to find balance in your busy life, find calm amidst the chaos, and grow your self love. Meditation is a scientifically proven method of relaxation and self-care for you to use to your advantage. I guarantee it will improve your life.

I love to meditate. It has helped me to remain grounded and focused even when life around me is busy. I take the time each day to sit in silence and practice.  The calm awareness I experience during meditation, follows me into my daily activities. Join me on this journey toward deepening your connection with yourself.

Track 1: Intro & the Basics
Hear a little about Bette and why meditation is an important part of her life. Listen to some basic instruction and the steps she gives to her beginner students.
Track 2: Slow Down & Breathe
This is a simple meditation that focuses on the breath while giving some gentle attention to the mind. Even a short amount of time spent in meditation has benefits for our body by lowering stress, heart rate and blood pressure.

Track 3: Let Go & Trust
Feelings of worry or doubt are temporary but when we resist them, they can become stronger. Instead, they need our kind attention. This meditation reminds us that freedom and joy await when we can trust ourselves and let go.
Track 4: Forgiving Yourself
This meditation uses the phrases from the ancient Hawaiian practice for making things right called Ho’o Pono Pono. Use this practice to release the past to feel lighter and experience more inner peace.
Track 5: Body Scan
Taking time to appreciate our bodies, can lead to health and well-being. This meditation is a very relaxing form of self-care.
Track 6: Heart Coherence
When we rest in the heart and feel positive emotions of gratitude or peace, there is great benefit for ourselves, for those around us and for our entire planet.
Track 1: Your Creative Spark Within
We all have a creative genius within just waiting for us to tap into it. Take some time before a creative assignment or a difficult project to get in touch with that inner spark that guides you to your intuitive wisdom.
Track 2: Peace in the Present Moment
Don’t we all crave more peace? Find some refuge in this meditation by becoming mindful and finding that place of peace within.
Track 3: Honoring Strong Feelings
What a perfect way to honor yourself and all your feelings, even those that are not so nice. We are humans and we go through many emotions throughout any given day, some stronger than others. Honor all parts of you including those sticky feelings.
Track 4: Smile Meditation
Sometimes my joy can be the source of my smile, but sometimes a smile can be the source of my joy. Thich Nhat Hanh, Buddhist monk and peace activist, gave us this mantra to use to slow down our breathing and come into a place of calm.
Track 5: Loving Kindness
One of the foundational meditations of the mindfulness meditation movement, this is a chance to send kind awareness out into the world. It begins and ends with loving ourselves which is important to our emotional and physical well-being.

Healthy Living through Mindfulness offered through the Santa Rosa Junior College’s Lifelong Learning Program.

I teach two sections of this class – one on Tuesday afternoons at 1 pm and the other on Wednesdays at 10:30 am to noon.
